The University of Southern Mississippi offers an annual Athletic Training Student Workshop that consists of Beginner, three Advanced Workshops. This year’s workshop will be JUNE 10-12! The workshops are for eighth-grade to junior college students who assist their schools’ athletic teams or are interested in athletic training and sports medicine. The workshops are designed to be intense hands-on practical experience emphasizing a range of topics varying from taping to emergency situations. Films, audio-visual aids, lectures, demonstrations, and question-and-answer sessions will be used in a classroom setting. These workshops deal with the anatomy, taping, recognition of injuries and emergency situations.


Alumni from the camp have attended programs all over the south east including but not limited to: The University of Southern Mississippi, The University of West Alabama, The University of West Florida, Delta State University, and Louisiana State University. Alumni hold positions in sports medicine ranging from collegiate athletics, outreach programs, medical sales representatives, and high school athletic trainers. The current camp administrators strive to uphold the standard of excellence that gave the Student Athletic Trainer Workshop the legacy that it holds today, seeking to inspire the next generation of athletic training students to excellence.
